FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. Why are there two events?

We are a part of two communities, and wanted the opportunity to share our celebration with members of both. Different customs and rules both forced and allowed us to spread the two parts out. Oh, and our caterer looks forward to retiring a few years earlier
  2. So, are there are actually two events?

There are two parties, but it's one event: a celebration of Marissa becoming a bat mitzvah. This actually occurred in March of 2022 on her 12th birthday. The August party was a public, low-key celebration of the religious milestone. The March party will be a more stepped up evening affair, with music and immense amounts of food.
  3. Why wasn’t I invited to the first part?

We kept a much tighter list because of lower capacity and less of a kid-centric event.  We also had issues with invitations not getting to their destinations, so some people who were invited are getting “follow-up” invitations to this second event.
  4. Why wasn’t I invited to the second part?

If you got an invitation last summer, you’re invited; it was included. If you misplaced it, don’t worry, you’re still invited; we’re reaching out to everyone again via phone or email.
  5. I didn’t attend in August; can I still attend in March?

YES! We look forward to seeing you, whether it's once or twice.
  6. So, do I have to give another gift?

I don’t feel comfortable answering any question which implies gifts are required or expected as they are neither.  So, let me reword the question a bit and give a long answer; if you gave a gift and are contemplating whether you should give another, I refer you to the previous question – it’s one bat mitzvah; this is just the second part of it. The short answer: no.
  7. Last summer, I responded to the March affair, but I need to change my response.  What should I do?

Either fill out the form again, or just call or e-mail Phil or Alicia
  8. Can I attend virtually?

And miss a great dinner and some loud music???
  9. What does milchig mean?

It’s Yiddish for “milky” – we’re having a dairy meal.  We opted against meat so we could have an ice cream bar.  Yes, we’re having dessert before AND after the meal.  Don’t judge us; you know you like the idea.
